Highway crews have closed a lane of the Mississippi River bridge at Natchez to begin cleaning the span.

The Mississippi Department of Transportation began the work Wednesday with the closing of the westbound right lane. The closure will begin at 6 a.m. and end at 7 p.m. each day except Sundays.

Once crews have completed the cleaning in the right lane of the bridge, they will shift to the left lane of the bridge.

The work is expected to be completed by Jan. 14.
