Tuesday, a trustee held at the Pearl River County jail escaped after returning from a work site.

The inmate, identified as Eric Scott, 24, of 603 S. Blanks Ave., apparently walked away from the jail and got into a car driven by an accomplice, said Chief Deputy Shane Tucker.

Scott’s accomplice is suspected to be Desiree Westbrook, 21, also of 603 S. Blanks Ave., Tucker said.

The incident apparently happened Tuesday as the trustees were in line waiting to be brought back into the jail. As the inmates were being brought back into the jail, guards noticed that Scott was not in line.

Westbrook is believed to have been in the parking lot of the jail at the time waiting on Scott. From there Scott made his escape.

Both suspects are wanted for his escape.

Tucker said Scott was being held in the jail for drug-related charges.
