Carriere native and former Poplarville head football coach Lance Mancuso didn’t waste any time in making an impact on the football program at Bassfield High.

Mancuso and his team is playing undefeated Forest in the Class 2A South State finals tonight in Bassfield. The winner advances on to the overall state championship next weekend in Jackson. Mancuso, in his first year, has led the Yellow Jackts to a 12-1 record. He also led Seminary to the Class 2A state title before guidng Poplarville to the Class 4A state playoffs twice in his three seasons with the Hornets.
