Picayune and arch-rival Pearl River Central renew their rivalry on the gridiron this week, as the Blue Devils travel to Picayune.

The series has almost always been one-sided, as the Maroon Tide has won 10 straight in the rivalry. Meanwhile, the Blue Devils won the first five games when the series first began back in the 1990’s.

Last year, Picayune posted the largest win ever in the series when the Maroon Tide trampled the Blue Devils 66-15.

The Blue Devils are not only looking for a measure of revenge from that loss last season, but just need a win of any kind as they have lost 12 straiught games overall.

The Blue Devils are 0-1 in league play after falling to D’Iberville last week 41-0. Also, PRC has dropped seven straight Region 8-4A contests.

This marks the league opener for the two time defending league champion Maroon Tide.

PRC will have to defend against speedy Picayune tailback Jamal Hall, as the sophomore has ran for 418 yards in four games.

Picayune quarterback Jacob Kennedy has thrown for seven scores, which ranks third in South Mississippi.

Maroon Tide tailback/cornerback T’Daryl Grays is expected to return to action this week after being hobbled by an ankle injury.

PRC speedy standout Je’Barr Locure has been hampered a bit recently with an injury as well. The Blue Devils allow an average of almost 34 points per game.
