An investigation into a door being found ajar at a home lead to a burglary investigation that ended with the arrest of a neighbor.

Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Chief Investigator Shane Tucker said the department received a call about the burglary on Sept. 3 at about 10 a.m. An investigation into the matter lead to the arrest of Jason Horsman, 27, of 125 Salem Rd.

Apparently the resident’s son-in-law discovered the back door ajar when he went to check on the home. He called and notified his mother-in-law of the discovery and she went home to check it out. She discovered that a number of her belongings were missing, Tucker said.

Sheriff’s Department investigators found evidence at the scene that led them to the neighbor’s home. As they talked to Horsman, they found several of the missing items, including two television sets, a laptop computer, a window air conditioning unit and some jewelry. All of the items were recovered and Horsman was charged with residential burglary, Tucker said.

Tucker said it appeared as though entry into the home was gained by removal of the window unit.
