The Grenada City Council will hold a public meeting on August 4 to hear from local residents on a possible public smoking ban.

Mayor Billy Collins says the meeting will give council members and the public an opportunity to discuss the pros and cons of this issue.

In May, during the city elections, residents were asked in a nonbinding referendum whether they wanted an anti-smoking ordinance. The vote was 1,741 for the ban on smoking in public places and 727 against it.
