A McNeill man, identified as Eugene Shawe, reportedly was found asleep in a stolen car in Gulfport.

When Harrison County Deputies found a man asleep in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Flying J Truck Stop in Gulfport, they ran a check on the vehicle. That check found that it had been stolen on Thursday in New Orleans.

Shawe, 50, of 14 Simpson Dr., McNeill was taken into custody for felony possession of stolen property, according to a press release from the department.

Shawe’s criminal history reflects arrests in 12 states during the past 30 years for numerous felonies including grand larceny, escape, possession of stolen property, forgery, burglary and narcotics, the release states.

He is being held at the Harrison County Adult Detention Center under a $50,000 bond.
