Pearl River County remained relatively unscathed Saturday morning after a line of severe storms passed through the county Friday night and early Saturday morning.

The severe weather was part of a line of storms that ripped across the middle of United States on Friday, spawning deadly tornadoes that killed seven people in Arkansas.

Pearl River County Emergency Management Director Danny Manley said in a telephone interview Saturday that no hail or wind damage had been reported after the storms. Manley said the only weather seen in Pearl River County was a large amount of rain, and estimated that Poplarville had received approximately 10 inches throughout the night.

Teresa Milar of the Picayune Police Department said no incidents or injuries had been reported in relation to the storm as of Saturday morning.

Major Shane Tucker of the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department said Saturday he was unaware of any incidents or injuries in the county in relation to the weather.
