Changes in sewage payments

Sewage bills will now go to another entity other than the cities of Picayune and Poplarville, but bills can still be paid at their current locations, for the most part.

The only major change will affect Dixie Utilities customers. That change will not take effect until July, said Utility Authority Engineer Brooks Wallace.

As of Sunday Southwest Water Incorporated will begin their contract with the Utility Authority to operate the waste water systems for Picayune and Poplarville and the water and sewer system formerly known as Dixie Utilities, Wallace said.

City residents will still be able to pay their bills at their respective city utility department offices. Dixie Utility customers will pay their bills as they have been to the city of Picayune for the next month. Wallace said that by July 1, the Utility Authority will set up a post office box for those customers to mail in bills. They hope to have an office for customers to pay their bill in person soon. The P.O. Box and office addresses will be announced to those customers at a later date, Wallace said.

For questions customers can call 601-799-5250, until a permanent office is set up at which point a new number will be released.
