Picayune Police officers are asking for the community’s help in possibly solving two armed bank robberies that took place last week.

The armed robbery of First National Bank in Picayune and the armed robbery of the Regions Bank in D’Iberville are believed to be related, said Public Information Officer Capt. Theresa Milar. She said there are similarities in the photos of the robbery suspects in both banks’ surveillance video. The Sun Herald reports that the robbery of the Regions Bank on Thursday at about 4:30 p.m. involved a note passed to the teller. The note informed the teller that the robber wanted money, according to http://www.sunherald.com/278/story/501628.html.

A Sunday story in the Picayune Item stated that the robber of the First National Bank in Picayune on Saturday also passed a note to the teller requesting money.

Investigators are asking community members who may have been in the area at the time of the robbery to share any details they might remember.

“Maybe there’s something that investigators can talk to them about,” Milar said.

Anyone who has information to share can call the Picayune Police Investigation division at 601-7980-0374.
