New Hope nipped picayune

New Hope nipped picayune 56-51 in overtime in the Class 4A state basketball championship Friday night here at the Mississippi Coliseum.

Brandon Fortenberry had 22 points for Picayune, and Chris Dees added eight. Rashanti Harris had 16 points and 16 rebounds for New Hope, and was named the player of the game.

Picayune led 43-30 with just over a minute to play in regulation. New Hope rallied to tie the game at 43-43 to send it into overtime, and then outscored the Maroon Tide 13-8 in the extra session to pull out the win.
