A Picayune resident leapt from a moving truck and was pronounced dead at the scene here Wednesday.

According to a press release from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department Jana Johnson, 25, of Picayune, was riding with her husband, Ryan, when for an unknown reason she jumped out of the moving truck. Witnesses behind the truck report the vehicle was moving at about 40 miles per hour.

The truck was north bound on Kiln-Delisle road at the time. Witnesses state a white female “just jumped out of the vehicle,” the release states.

Ryan Johnson told police that his wife was apparently having emotional problems due to recent family tragedies, the release states.

Jana Johnson was pronounced dead on the scene and the incident is being investigated as an apparent suicide, the release states.
