Two Picayune residents were killed in an accident on U.S. 11 Wednesday morning.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Master Sgt. Joe Gazzo said at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday Brandon King, 26, of Picayune was driving on U.S. 11 with Deshone Warren, 25, also of Picayune when his vehicle hit a puddle of water forcing it off the road.

As King’s 2007 Chevy passenger car was traveling on U.S. 11, three miles south of Poplarville near Cowart Holliday Road, it hit a puddle of water caused by a backed up culvert.

“So when they hit that spot they hydroplaned and ran off the side of the road,” Gazzo said.

After the car left the road it hit a small tree head on, struck a second tree causing it to spin before wrapping around a third tree on the passenger side, Gazzo said.

Both King and Warren were killed in the accident.

“They had no seatbelts on,” Gazzo said.
