Elton Deon Smith Ekornes, 29, of Carriere, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2007, in Carriere.

Elton’s Funeral Service will be Tuesday, November 20 at 11 a.m. at Picayune Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Arlis Grice officiating. His Visitation is Monday, November 19, 6-9 p.m. at Picayune Funeral Home. His burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery, under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home.

Elton was a lifetime resident of Pearl River County and a member of Goodyear Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Maurice L Smith; his father, Johnny Ekornes Sr.; his brother, Timothy Paul Smith; and an uncle, John Edward Smith.

He is survived by: his mother, Martha Kaye Ekornes Smith of Carriere; his grandmother, Vonnie Marie Smith of Picayune; two brothers: Jason HoBgood and wife Bobbie Jean of Ocean Springs; Pete HoBgood and wife Rebecca of McNeill; one sister: Tanya HoBgood Ladner of Carriere; six nieces: Victoria Lynn HoBgood, Abigail Alise HoBgood, Alexis Kaylene HoBgood, Sarah Joann HoBgood, Gabriel Aiden HoBgood, and Laken Skye Pearson; and two nephews: Timothy Garrett Rasco, little Jason Alexander HoBgood; his fiancé, Gina Adams of Carriere; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Arrangements are under the direction of Picayune Funeral Home.
