Pearl River County Neighborhood Watch gives a little back

The Pearl River County Neighborhood Watch members gave a little back to the community in the form of a housing repair project in Nicholson last month.
The group assisted Paul Ernest, an elderly resident of the Nicholson community, by helping paint and replace a door on his home.
The painting project started Sept. 8, and took four days. It involved the participation of several Watch members, according to Ms. Brenda Cambre, a Watch Board Member.
Cambre said the decision was made to help Ernest with his house because of the things he does for the community, namely his habit of sitting with the cashiers at Logan’s One Stop in Nicholson. Ernest sits with the cashiers, who many times close the store alone at night, because of the high crime rate in the area.
In a letter to the Item, Cambre said, “Special thanks to 72-year-old board member Mrs. Ruby Croney, who worked three days tirelessly in the heat with love in her heart to see this project through.”
The door and paint for the project were donated for the project by Steve Weaver, Manager of Home Depot. The door was installed by Patrick Lee.
