Police are searching for a man wanted in the weekend sexual assault of a Mississippi State University student.

The 19-year-old female told campus police she was jogging on the university’s bike path around 8:30 p.m. Sunday when the assault occurred.

Campus Police Chief Georgia Lindley said Tuesday that the investigation was continuing. Lindley said students living on campus were encouraged to take extra caution.

The university is increasing police patrols significantly, said MSU Dean of Students Mike White. He said more uniformed officers will be out on foot, on bicycles, in golf carts, and in squad cars.
