Local girl invited to state wide scholarship program

Mahaganey Chanay Magee has been selected as a finalist in the Preteen Mississippi Scholarship and Recognition Program to be held September 28-30 at the Summit Hotel and Summit Center in Tupelo. She is the daughter of Tiffany Batiste and William Smith of Picayune.

Preteen Mississippi is a by-invitation only Scholarship and Recognition event involving young ladies 7-12 years of age based on their academic records, awards and honors won and/or their participation in outside activities. Additionally, young ladies are invited who have been recognized publicly for their outstanding personal achievements, volunteer services, school involvement, leadership abilities or creative talents.

State Finalists will be evaluated on their academic achievements, volunteer services to their community, honors and activities, their personal skills and abilities, there abilities in general knowledge and communication, on-stage acknowledgment of accomplishments.
