A juvenile was reported to have been raped during a home invasion where some items were stolen.

Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Krista Groom said the incident took place Monday, at about 11 a.m. in the Pine Grove community. Deputies were dispatched to the area in response to a rape and home invasion with robbery.

Groom said the juvenile victim stated she did not know the suspect, but described the man as 6 feet tall, about 200 pounds, wearing a red shirt, blue jeans and a white baseball cap with a flat bill and the letters “NY” on the front. The suspect was also described as having a gap between his front teeth but no description on the hair and eye color could be provided by the victim, Groom said.

The victim was alone at the time of the incident, Groom said.

A witness reportedly saw a white Blazer or Jimmy like vehicle parked at the residence at the time of the incident.

“It could be a small white pickup or a white SUV,” Groom said.

The suspect was also described as having a “thuggish” or Chalmette accent.

Some undisclosed items were taken in the burglary.

Suspects had been developed in the case, includeing a registered sex offender who lives in the area, but all current suspects were ruled out. The registered sex offender, who was pointed out by the victim in a photo lineup, was ruled out because he reportedly was out of town at the time of the incident.
