Funeral services will be held Friday, July 6, 2007 at 2 p.m. at White Funeral Home in Poplarville for Barbara Joan Gavin, 79, of Poplarville, Miss. who passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2007 in the Pearl River County Nursing Home.
Burial will follow in the Poplarville City Cemetery.
The Rev. Tommy Anthony and the Rev. Carroll Farmer will officiate the service.
A native of Memphis, Tenn. she was born July 3, 1928 to the late Alfred Hugh and Minnie Kennedy Boler. She was a member of the First Baptist church of Poplarville where she taught Sunday school and assisted in the nursing home ministry at the pearl river County Nursing Home. Her granddaughter, Ms. Holly Fairley precedes her in death.
Survivors include three children, Wayne smith and his wife Melba of Grenada, Miss.; Ronnie Smith and his wife Linda and Babs Fairley and her husband Otis both of Poplarville; three brothers, Jim Boler of Pensacola, Fla., Joe Turner of Delaware and Tommy Turner of Ohio; one sister, Ellie Hawes of Alabama; four grandchildren, Todd Smith and his wife Raquel of Poplarville; Tiffany Smith of Hattiesburg, Miss., Timothy Smith and his wife Leslie of Jackson, Miss. and Elizabeth Smith of Memphis; two great grandchildren, Luke Smith and Christian Smith.
Visitation will be Friday, July 6, 2007 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. at White Funeral Home in Poplarville.
