The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department has been busy with several drug-related arrests in Carriere as well as a stabbing incident in Nicholson.

On Wednesday, June 27, deputies made a drug bust in McNeill in which officers purchased crack cocaine from Corey Nelson, 34, of Carriere. Once the sale was completed, deputies arrested Nelson for sale of a controlled substance.

After the arrest, deputies traveled to Nelson’s residence at 122 Ruston Road, Carriere. There, they found Alison Stockstill, 25, and Bobby Lane, 65. Both Lane and Stockstill live with Nelson at the residence. Deputies told Lane and Stockstill of Nelson’s arrest, and obtained permission to search the residence.

During the course of the search, deputies found “half a cookie” of crack cocaine. Captain Chris Lott of the sheriff’s department said the cookie unit of measurement gets its name from the way the drug resembles a cookie after it is cooked. A cookie is usually equal to about an ounce of drug.

Lane and Stockstill were arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute within 1,500 feet of a church. Lott did not know the name of the nearby church.

On Monday, July 2, with the consent of the owner, deputies searched the residence at 114 Hidden Oaks Dr., Carriere. The search revealed several individual bags of marijuana totaling approximately half a pound. Deputies also found “half a cookie” of crack cocaine.

Deputies placed the resident, Richard Smith, 20, under arrest for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute.

On Tuesday, pursuant to a warrant relating to a recent investigation, deputies searched the residence at 56 Openwood Dr. West, Carriere. there, the deputies informed the residents, 49-year-old Albert Petitfils and 27-year-old Tiffani Desmon, of the warrant.

During the search, deputies discovered six-foot tall marijuana plants growing behind the residence. Marijuana also was discovered inside the residence, along with numerous assault rifles, handguns and shotguns. The weapons and marijuana were seized as evidence, and Petitfils and Desmon were both charged with manufacturing marijuana.

On Sunday, July 1, deputies were called to Highland Community Hospital in response to a stabbing. The victim, Michael Teague, stated he was at the entrance to Allison RV Park in Nicholson when he got into a fight with Lee Cievas, 35, of 2616 Georgia Ave., Kenner, La. During the course of the fight, Teague was trying to get back in his vehicle when Cievas stabbed him in the side with a knife.

Deputies went to Allison RV Park where they arrested Cievas for aggravated assault.

Teague was treated and has been released from the hospital.
