Culpepper announces candidacy

I, Charles Culpepper, am announcing my candidacy for Supervisor District 2, Pearl River County. I am taking this opportunity to seek your vote and support. I have visited many people in the last few months to personally see as many citizens as possible. If I have failed to see you, please consider this as a request for your vote.

I am a life-long resident of Pearl River County and now reside in the Ford’s Creek community with my wife, Joyce Keaton Culpepper, a supervisor at the Movie Star Plant in Poplarville. We are members of Ford’s Creek Baptist Church. We have two children, Michelle Wellborn, a former bank employee and now a nursing student, and Keith E. Culpepper, a nurse at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. We are blessed with four grandchildren. I own and operate my farm in Ford’s Creek. I enjoy growing a huge garden each year and sharing my vegetables with friends and the elderly or disabled in our community.

My 19 years experience with the Pearl River County Road Department includes starting at the bottom and working up to road foreman for 14 years and the last two years as assistant road manager. I have knowledge of policies and procedures and I am aware of future problems facing our county. I am debt free and I know how to run a tight budget. I will listen and speak out for your interest and not my own. I believe in more citizen’s rights and less government. I believe the unit system should be run the way it was intended. I am honest and truthful. I believe my neighbors, friends, church family and co-workers are my best references.

Pearl River County is the third fastest growing county in the nation. We must be good stewards of all natural resources and taxpayer’s funds. We must work together for the success of our county’s economic development.

As your supervisor, I promise to support the efforts and seek funding through federal, state, or local government for economic development, volunteer fire departments, litter control, animal control, the county planning department, road repair and construction, state aid projects, medical and nursing home services, schools, law enforcement, civil defense and all services that better our lives. I will also consider changes in projects that are not working.

I believe service is best offered by one who is truly thankful and truly humble. It is my desire to serve you with honesty and creditability.
