Willie “W.C.” Carr Jackson

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 4 p.m. at St. Mattthew Missionary Baptist Church, for Mr. Willie “W.C.” Carr Jackson, 82, of Picayune, who passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007 in Slidell, La.

The Rev. Michael Kelly will officiate at the service. Burial will be in the Picayune Cemetery under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.

A native of Poplarville he was a Long-Haul Instructor for Crown Zellabach for 30 years. He was a member of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and the first black Deputy Sheriff of Pearl River County.

Mr. Jackson was also inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Dallas, Texas, and was a Mason.

Survivors include: his wife, Mattie Jackson of Picayune; two daughters, Joan Floyd and Anita Harris-Carr of New York; one sister, Rosie Lee Parker of Picayune; four grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 12, 2007 from 3-4 p.m. at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Picayune.

Baylous Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
