James Julian Halbert

Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 12 noon in the New Palestine Cemetery for James Julian Halbert, 92, of Picayune, who passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007 in his home in Picayune.

Burial will be in the New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home in Picayune.

The Rev. R.T. Buckley will officiate at the service.

A native of Dallas, Texas, he was a Tank Man and a member of the First Lutheran Church. He was a Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Jim enjoyed his garden, flowers, and his dog, Peaches. Mr. Halbert was preceded in death by his wife: Leona Halbert.

Survivors include: one sister, Jeannette Merkel of Harahan, La., and his niece, nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 31 from 10-11 a.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home.
