Pick it up Picayune will kick off this Saturday and every community member is invited to join the effort.

There will be door prizes available to those who participate in the clean up. The clean up kick off will take place March 24 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Garbage bags, gloves and devices to pick up the trash will be issued to those who choose to participate, said Nancy Griffin, Pick it up Picayune president.

“Service to the community is the price you pay for the space you occupy,” Griffin said.

Griffin said the effort will not be looking to clean up large items such as construction debris, instead volunteers will focus on the smaller items such as paper, bottles, cans and other small litter.

During the festivities, the door prizes will be awarded to those who participated in the clean up effort. Griffin said if any other businesses would like to donate door prizes for the effort they can call 601-798-8591.
