I, Joseph “Josey” Russell Tynes, would like to take this opportunity to announce that I am running for the position of Pearl River County Supervisor District 2. I am a native of Pearl River County and life-long resident of the Springhill Community. I am the son of Denny and Kathy Tynes, the grandson of Otho Tynes, Jr. and the late Julia Tynes, and of the late Raymond and Estelle Russell, all residents of Pearl River County. I am currently engaged to Jennifer Lindsey of Poplarville. This county is in my blood; my roots are here, my home is here. My love and passion for my home has driven my decision to ask for the opportunity to serve its citizens.

I am a graduate of William Carey College, Hattiesburg campus, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in accounting with a minor in English. I also graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree from Pearl River Community College, Poplarville, where I studied pre-civil engineering and business administration. I am also a graduate of Poplarville High School.

I am presently employed with the NASA Shared Services Center as a Budget Analyst for all NASA grants and cooperative agreements. This job has advanced my proficiency for stewardship, financial responsibility, and the ability to unite people from all demographics.

My previous employments have blessed me with many unique experiences and awarded me various qualifications. I worked to rebuild our community in 2005 joining Parr Inspections as a FEMA housing inspector after Hurricane Katrina devastated South Mississippi. While working my way through college, I was employed with Tynes Surveying as a Survey Assistant.

While attending Pearl River Community College and Poplarville High School, I was employed at Poplarville’s local grocery store, Sunflower, as stock personnel and grocery bagger, as well as working at Poplarville’s local clothing retailer, Apples Ltd. During this time, I developed a relationship with the people of this community which I continue to cherish.

This on-the-job training has complimented my formal education by enhancing my leadership, communication, and organizational skills. I am confident I have the skills necessary to be successful, and would be in a position to immediately contribute from my own education and experiences. During the course of my career, I have developed the leadership and managerial skills necessary for this position.

As a citizen of Pearl River County, I see many disheartened people throughout its communities. There are many relevant concerns that have come into our community in the past years. I want to be able to bring these concerns to a resolution and make the citizens of Pearl River County proud of my leadership as I tackle issues that are brought before the Board of Supervisors.

There are many citizens with the same concerns as I have with our county’s future. I want Pearl River County to continue to build on its reputation as the ideal place to live and raise our families. We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to live in such a great community with great people who care and have a genuine concern for each other and our community.

Help me, help our community by voting Joseph “Josey” Russell Tynes for District 2 Pearl River County Supervisor August 7. Please, remember what is good for your family is good for mine.
