Pigott leads MSU

Justin Pigott allowed one run in seven innings and Mississippi State amassed 22 hits in a 13-1 beating of Murray State Saturday.

Edward Easley paced the Bulldogs (2-0) with four hits in four at bats, while Pigott struck out four, walked one and scattered four hits in his first win of the young season.

Brad Rowland took the loss for the Racers (0-4), who had five errors in the second game of a three-game series with the Bulldogs. Rowland allowed 11 hits and seven runs in 3.2 innings.

Mississippi State scored three runs in the third inning, four runs in the fifth inning and five runs in the seventh inning. Greg Houston and Mitch Moreland, who went 3-for-4 at the plate, closed the game for the Bulldogs.
