A Moss Point man was sentenced to 22 years in prison Thursday after pleading guilty to possession of 900 marijuana plants.

The final 10 years of Jerry Lee McDonald’s sentence for possession and manufacture of marijuana will be served on post-release supervision.

McDonald, 54, was arrested in December 2004 when officers from the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Jackson County Narcotics Task Force, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department and Moss Point Police Department found an elaborate grow operation at his home, according to www.gulflive.com.

District Attorney Tony Lawrence seized McDonald’s property under forfeiture laws. He owned two houses, guns and had about $2,000 in his possession.

“The proceeds from this will be used to fund law enforcement training and to purchase equipment,” Lawrence said in the news release.
