A man was found dead in a locked room after cleaning staff attempted to clean a room at a local Inn.

According to a Picayune Police Department report when personnel at the Picayune Inn, located on U.S. 11, attempted to gain entry to a room they found the door locked from the inside. The report states that the internal deadbolt and security chain were locked in place. After the staff gained entry to the room they discovered a body and notified the department.

When the officers arrived on scene they found a body that had suffered what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division found no evidence of foul play in the room, the report states.

The man found in the room was identified as Alford Savin, 31, with a last known address of 503 W. Canal St., Picayune, according to the report.
