Two former members of a drug task force who pleaded guilty to planting evidence and embezzlement were sentenced to house arrest Thursday in Jones County Circuit Court.

Circuit Judge Billy Joe Landrum sentenced former task force commander Roger Williams to 30 months of house arrest and community service.

Landrum sentenced agent Randall Parker to 12 months of house arrest and community service.

The sentences were based on recommendations from the district attorney’s office. The sentencing for Chris Smith, the third agent involved, was postponed until next week because his attorney was unable to be in court Thursday.

All three are also former Jones County deputies.

“The sentences for Williams and Parker, and Smith’s sentencing next week closes the case,” said Assistant District Attorney J. Ronald Parrish.

Williams, Smith and Parker pleaded guilty in August to a variety of charges including evidence tampering, embezzlement and obstruction of justice.

Their actions resulted in more than three dozen drug cases in Jones County being dismissed. The task force no longer exists.
