A large stash of narcotics and two armed robbers have been taken of the streets due to efforts of the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department.

An improper lane change traffic stop Jan. 24 on I-59 lead deputies to a large discovery of cocaine. When the deputy approached the vehicle the driver asked the deputy why he had been pulled over, according to a release from the department.

After the deputy ran a check on the passengers in the vehicle the deputy discovered that two of the people in the vehicle had prior arrests for narcotics, the release stated. Deputies obtained consent to search the vehicle, which lead to a positive K-9 alert for narcotics. During a search of the vehicle the deputy found about eight pounds of cocaine hidden in a cargo area of the vehicle.

The four suspects taken in to custody were Chuck Seal Obregon, 20, of 6212 Fargo Ave. Brownsville, Texas; Joseph L. Hall, 26, of 4520 Westminster Ave., Philadelphia, Pa.; Michael Ron Harlan, 28, 635 Copley Rd., Upper Darby, Pa. and Caitlyn M. Hermanofski, 19, 1648 Main Rd., Hunlock Creek, Pa. All were charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.

In an unrelated incident two suspects were taken into custody for the armed robbery of a residence. The report states that on Jan. 25 deputies received a call concerning a home invasion in the Beaverwood subdivision. A large quantity of computer equipment was taken at gunpoint from the residence during the robbery, the release states.

The next evening while working an accident involving one of the suspects identified as Steven S. Kennedy, 25, no known address given, deputies found most of the stolen computer equipment and a stolen pistol in the vehicle. Kennedy was charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and grand larceny.

During the investigation deputies discovered a second suspect identified as Kayla Penton, 16, of 39 B Stegall Penton Rd., Picayune; who was charged with armed robbery after deputies had her turn herself in, according to the release. The release states that Penton is being charged as an adult due to the fact that the incident she was involved in was a violent crime with a weapon involved.

All suspects in the before mentioned incidents are waiting for their initial appearance before a justice court judge to establish bond.
