A Scott County man has been sentenced to 39 months in federal prison on charges of trafficking in methamphetamine.

On Friday, William Randall Parks was immediately ordered into custody of the U.S. Marshal’s Service.

U.S. District Judge Henry T. Wingate also accepted a guilty plea from a woman to whom Parks was planning to deliver the drugs when he was arrested June 22, 2005, in Rankin County.

Nancy S. Pinter, 44, also of Scott County, will be sentenced March 23, Wingate said.

Parks, charged with possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine, was planning to deliver the drugs to Pinter on June 28, 2005, said Assistant U.S. Attorney Sandra Moses.

Federal and state narcotic agents had Parks to wear a wire and he delivered a fake package containing sugar instead to Pinter.

Prosecutors said the package was found in Pinter’s home.
