The murder trial for former University of Mississippi student David Jackson Williams has tentatively been scheduled for April in Lafayette County Circuit Court.

Williams, 22, of Olive Branch, is charged in the 2005 death of 21-year-old Demetria Bracey, an Ole Miss French major from Jackson. Lafayette County Coroner Lonnie Weaver said earlier that Bracey had died of a stab wound to the chest.

Williams was arrested in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2005, in Southaven and charged with Bracey’s murder. Authorities said he had been admitted to Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto County for self-inflicted injuries.

Williams, who had been a senior business major, was allowed to remain free on $100,000 bond ordered after his arrest.

Authorities said Bracey, a resident adviser at Crosby Hall and a member of the university’s marching band, was found at Williams’ Oxford address.

Assistant District Attorney T.R. Trout said the case would be heard in April but he did not immediately provide additional details.
