The Pearl River County Crime Stoppers has taken over duties of issuing the reward offered for the two robberies that occurred in Poplarville on Thursday, Dec. 28.

Both the Conoco and the Radio Shack were broken into and robbed within 30 minutes of each other and the suspect or suspects are still at large. A reward is offered leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects.

Nothing further is known about the suspect or suspects at this time said Poplarville Police Investigator John Kramer, but the video taken at the Conoco is undergoing examination to try and get a description of the vehicle used during the Conoco robbery.

While it is still unknown if the two robberies were done by the same person or persons, an arrest may be able to reveal more.

“If we could find the suspect we could possibly link it,” Kramer said.

“Your information can now be directed to Crime Stoppers at 601-799-2583,” said Community Relations Coordinator Lt. Theresa Milar with the Picayune Police Department.

The reward is offered by the Pearl River County Crime Stoppers instead of the Poplarville Police Department.

Crime Stoppers rewards are based off a points system depending on the nature of the crime, how many suspects are arrested and other variables. Specific details cannot be disclosed on the points system but more points make for higher rewards.

“It goes by how much money or property, the number of crimes solved and the number of suspects arrested,” Milar said.

Based on the points and the information provided, the Crime Stoppers board makes the final decision on how much money is rewarded.

Information does not have to deal with featured Crime Stopper stories, Milar said. If a resident has information on any unsolved crime or case, that information is also eligible for a reward pending an arrest.
