The Picayune Police Department is gearing up to promote this year’s clean up effort, the Great American Clean Up Mississippi, and is looking for prospective committee members to conduct a year-round clean up effort.

Monica Jacobsen with the Picayune Police Department said there will be a meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 1, in the council’s chambers at the new city hall. She said the focus of the committee, following the annual effort, will be to keep the Picayune area clean throughout the year. The meeting will be geared towards gathering prospective community members interested in joining that committee, Jacobsen said.

All members of Pearl River County are invited, and Ashley Lambert, county litter control officer, is scheduled to be in attendance. Also, Picayune Grounds Supervisor Daryl Smith will be in attendance.

There is no limit on the number of members who can join the committee with responsibilities focusing on conducting meetings and setting up cleaning events, Jacobsen said.
