Police Chief Luke was guest speaker at CWC meeting

Picayune Police Chief Jim Luke was the guest speaker at the Civic Woman’s Club of Picayune’s October Membership Meeting at the Margaret Reed Crosby Memorial Library. The Public Affairs Department hosted the meeting and the theme was “Domestic Violence” in recognition of Domestic Violence Month in October.

Chief Luke addressed domestic violence and discussed the increase of calls since Hurricane Katrina. Constance Myers, the contact officer for domestic violence was also in attendance at the meeting and spoke on this issue. Chief Luke also talked about the safety of the city of Picayune with its growth.

The Public Affairs department presented several bags of stuff animals to Chief Luke and Myers donated by the members. These animals will be used for children to play with when parents are being incarcerated.

Public Affairs Department Chairman, Mary Ellen Bright presented Chief Luke with a Certificate of Appreciation as well as other momentum’s. Other Public Affairs committee members who assisted in the program were Shirley Stough, Darlene Adams, Jane Anne Handley, Sandy Houston and Connie Tapley.
