Shoppers beware. If prescriptions need to be filled, they will need to be filled before or after Thanksgiving day but some of stores will be open for those last minute items that may have been missed.

Wal-Mart will be open Thanksgiving day for grocery and other needs from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., general manager Steve LeBlanc said. The pharmacy will be closed for Thanksgiving day, according to a message on the pharmacy’s answering machine. The store will open the day after Thanksgiving at 5 a.m. for the big sale and be open until 11 p.m. LeBlanc asks that shoppers line up at the grocery door before the sale to keep everything orderly for “blitz day.”

Wal-Mart will be closed Christmas day and will close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve, LeBlanc said. On New Year’s Eve, the store will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and New Year’s Day the store will resume regular hours, LeBlanc said.

Both Winn-Dixie locations will be open Thanksgiving day from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. said Dennis Wortham with Winn-Dixie public relations. The pharmacy for both Winn-Dixie locations will be closed on Thanksgiving day and will return to normal hours on Friday, according to the pharmacy phone service message. Hours for Christmas and New Year’s are still undetermined, Wortham said.

Walgreens will be open on Thanksgiving day for last minute things from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. However the pharmacy at both locations also will be closed, said store manager Chris Bruns. Bruns said that on Christmas day and on New Years day, the hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Christmas Eve, the hours will be 7 a.m. to midnight and on New Year’s Eve the store will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Rite Aid will be open for prescriptions and for last minute needs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving day, said shift supervisor Allison Gibson. Christmas day the store will be closed but on Christmas Eve, they will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. New Year’s Day the store will be open at 9 a.m. but the pharmacy will close at 3 p.m. while the rest of the store will be open until 10 p.m. On New Year’s Eve, the front of the store will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. while the pharmacy will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Gibson said.

City Rexall will be closed Thanksgiving day but will be open the day before from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the day after during their regular hours, said City Rexall employee Sara Williams. On Christmas Eve and on New Year’s day and New Year’s Eve and day, the store will be closed, Williams said.
