A domestic dispute turned deadly when a husband allegedly murdered his wife Friday morning.

The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department received the call at about 5:30 a.m. in reference to the murder, said Sheriff Joe Stuart. Apparently the altercation between husband and wife took place on the carport of 1563 South Beech in Picayune. She had been staying with acquaintances at that address due to marital problems, witnesses told Stuart.

Stuart said the victim, identified as Lourdes Hernandez De Oliva, 34, had her throat cut by her husband, identified as Pablo Santiago Oliva, 34, whose last known address was 5548 Pebble Beach Dr., Hanover Park Ill. He is described as being an Hispanic male, five feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds with brown eyes. In his Illinois driver’s license photo, he is wearing a mustach.

The husband then ran off towards the south, witnesses told the Sheriff’s Department.

The couple was staying at a residence on Williamsburg Road, where the husband is believed to have run to and taken a vehicle since one is missing from that residence, Stuart said.

A search of the residence was being conducted after an affidavit was signed for a warrant, Stuart said. The Mississippi State Violent Crime Scene Unit was on the way from Jackson this morning to help with the investigation and the Picayune Police Department also is assisting, Stuart said.
