Prostate cancer screen at FGH

Prostate cancer is the second most common type of cancer found in American men. The American Cancer Society estimates that there will be about 234,460 new cases of prostate cancer in the United States in 2006.

Forrest General Hospital is encouraging men to take action for their health by offering free prostate cancer screenings at the Forrest General Cancer Center, located at 301 South 28th Avenue. Drs. Hal Liddell and Nathan P. Shappley of the Urology Center will conduct screenings on Wednesday, November 8, from 8 –11 a.m. Dr. Jeff Wilson of Hattiesburg Clinic will conduct screenings on Wednesday, November 8, from 1–4:30 p.m. Dr. Deborah T. Azar of Southern Urology will conduct screenings on Thursday, November 9, from 8–11 a.m.

Patients will receive a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test and a digital rectal exam by a urologist.
