Services are at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at Gumpond Baptist Church for Elvin L. Penton, 71, of Lumberton, who died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
Bro. Mark Longino officiates at the service. Burial is in Beall Cemetery in Lumberton under the direction of White Funeral Home.
A native of McNeill, he was a member of the Lumberton Masonic Lodge, a U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of Gumpond Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Dubose Penton of Lumberton; a son, Barry Penton of Flowood; a daughter, Rebecca Sue Penton-Watson of Ridgeland; six brothers, Edward Penton, Evert Penton, Ernest Penton, Edgar Penton, Eugene Penton and Edmund Penton; four sisters, Edna Penton, Estelle Penton, Esther Smith and Eula Fleming, and three grandchildren.
Visitation was 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at the funeral home and 10-11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at the church.
