Authorities are still looking for a man who disappeared after a one-vehicle traffic accident.

About two dozen people searched for the man Friday night after finding an abandoned vehicle along Highway 20 North. Searchers combed through three acres of fields with flashlights and canvassed nearby homes with no luck.

Authorities found blood, blond hair and what appeared to be scalp embedded in the car’s windshield when they arrived, but no victim after the car slammed into a ditch.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Office checked area hospitals but found no one matching the description of the man involved in the crash.

Authorities said they used a cell phone in the car to contact an unnamed person who had some information. The person said the driver who borrowed the car was likely a Louisiana man staying in the area. The man is possibly a construction worker.
