A Moss Point man was being held in a Pascagoula jail after being accused of the kidnap and assault of a 16-year-old Jefferson County girl.

Sheriff Mike Byrd said Monday that Nicholas Rashod Williams, 28, was arrested over the weekend after the girl said she was kidnapped in Fayette and held her against her will in his apartment. Byrd said the girl also told deputies she was sexually assaulted multiple times.

Byrd said the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department received a call from the teenager on Saturday saying she was being held in an apartment in the Escatawpa area on Mississippi 613 in Jackson County.

“Deputies responded and freed the girl from the apartment,” said Byrd. “The apartment was padlocked from the outside and the windows were nailed shut.”

Pascagoula police officers arrested Williams on Saturday at Pavco Industries, where he was working as a security guard.

Williams also was being held on charges related to the alleged kidnapping in Jefferson County.

Williams was being held Tuesday in the Adult Detention Center in Pascagoula pending an initial court appearance.
