Poplarville, PMHS earn wins; football tickets now on sale

Poplarville won its fourth game of the year against just one loss in the slow pitch softball season on Tuesday, beating West Marion 8-0.

Taylor Meyers had an outstanding game for the Lady Hornets, as she not only picked up the pitching win but she had two hits as well.

Larke Nightengale also had a triple and a single for the winning team, and Gina Martinez and Chelsea Theriot had doubles in the 12-hit parade.

The 4-1 Lady Hornets travel to Harrison Central for a game on Thursday.

Picayune softball

Picayune moved to 6-2 on the young prep slow pitch softball season with an 11-1 win over Purvis Tuesday night.

A quartet of lady Tide players had big days at the plate in the 16 hit barrage for Picayune. Brandi Rabion had four hits and drove in two runs, while Kelley Bolar had three hits inculding a double, Sarah Trexler had three hits and drove in four runs while Kasey Mitchell had three hits and a pair of RBI’s as well.

The Lady Tide will host Vancleave on Thursday.

Picayune Football

Sseason tickets for Picayune Memorial High football are currently on sale at the Career and Technology Center at the school. Tickets can be purchased Monday through Friday from 8 a.m., until 2:30 p.m., and reserved seating will be sold thru Friday, Aug. 25th, the day the Maroon tide opens the season on the road against Moss Point, for current season ticket holders held over from last season. No tickets, though, will be sold on Friday, Aug. 17th. New Reserved seating for available seats will begin on Monday, Aug. 28th.

Student season tickets are $10, Adult All Sports Tickets are $50, and resrved seating with an All Sports Ticket is $65 per person.

Tickets will remain on sale until Friday, Sept. 1 at 2 p.m., and the Maroon Tide will have their home opener that night against Harrison Central.

PRCC Football

Reserved season football tickets are now on sale at Pearl River Community College.

Tickets for all four home games, with seats in the chair-backed section on the 50-yard line are $48 each. Individual game selection in the reserved section are $12 per ticket per game.

The first home game is Thursday, Sept. 7, against Coahoma Community College. Kickoff is 7 p.m. Call (601) 403-1184 for more info.

PYAA Football

The Picayune Youth Athletic Association is having registration for the upcoming football season at the Friendship Park Baseball Complex from from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday and from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., on Saturday. The league is for ages 6-12 and the child must be present at registration and a copy of the original birth certicate must be presented. The league is also taking applications for coaches and referees.
