PRC varsity cheerleaders win awards at cheer camp

The Pearl River Central High School varsity cheerleaders traveled to Mississippi State University for summer camp June 6 through June 9.

While at camp, the squad learned and performed several cheers and dances. The team received spirit sticks and blue ribbons every day for their achievements. They also received second place for their cheer routine and third place for their “extreme routine”.

Brandi Burge, Ashley Cantrell, Heather Hutchison, Katie Harvey, Sadie Penton, Whitney Penton and Delana Wilkerson were chosen to tryout for the “All Stars” team. Myka Trahan and Dana Weems were also chosen to perform in a “Jump Off” routine.

Katie Harvey, Delana Wilkerson and Ashley Cantrell were chosen as “UCA All-Stars.” To qualify, the girls were required to perform a jump, cheer, and dance. As All-Stars, they have the opportunity to perform in a parade in London, England.

Brittany “Dare Devil” Wilkerson also traveled to the MSU camp with the PRC cheerleaders, where she received numerous awards including three blue ribbons Spirit Sticks. She also received the UCA Mascot All-Star award, the All-Superior award, and the Leadership Award, which is voted on by all the mascots at camp.
