An unknown assailant fired a shot at a security guard in Hide-A-Way Lake Sunday and a man wanted for the rape of a county resident was recently caught in Louisiana.

As the HAWL security guard was patrolling the gated community, he heard a shot in the vicinity of Sunnybrook Road. As the guard was investigating, he heard another gunshot and felt something hit the truck he was in, said Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Aaron Russell. The guard left the scene and called the Sheriff’s Department from the guard house at 3:16 p.m.

The responding deputy observed a buck shot marks on the rear passenger side of the bed of the truck, Russell said. The department has no suspects and no witnesses at press time but are hopeful someone will call Crime Stoppers, he said.
