The First Annual Junior Blue Devil Football Camp was a huge success with nearly 40 kids in grades 1-6 attending.

The camp was put on by the new Pearl River Central High School and Middle School coaching staff from July 7-12th.

The camp ran from 8:30 – 12:00 for the three days. Each camper received instruction at every position. Coach Brian Keys and PRC quarterback Blake Herrin taught the fundamentals of the quarterback position. Coach Marty Lee and running backs Warren House and J.R. Smith worked with the running backs. The offensive and defensive line positions were taught by coaches Judd Necaise and Chris Rankin with the help of linemen Carson Smith, Eric Delaune, Cole Stewart, Daniel Hayden, Ethan Martin and Josh Baker. Coach Ryan Davis and PRC player Silas Baker provided instruction to the receivers. Coach Jeremy Cothran along with Pearl River Central High School kicker and punter Adam Herrin taught the campers the basic fundamentals of kicking and punting. Coach Jay Beech assisted by players Sean Kelly and Zach Marchand worked with the defensive backs and linebackers.

One of my goals when I took over as the High School Coach at Pearl River Central was to build a relationship with the younger kids,” new Blue Devil head coach Jeremy Weir said. “I am going to take a bigger role in the Middle School football program than the head high school coach has traditionally had a PRC. I also want to be available to the PRCAA and establish a relationship there with those coaches and players.

“This camp was a great way for me and my coaching staff to meet some of the younger kids and get involved with them. My coaching staff and I want every kid in the Pearl River Central School District to want to play for the Blue Devils as soon as he is old enough.”
