High School athletes help teach Camp Courageous

McNeill— On Thursday, June 15, 2006, members of the Pearl River Central High School football team and Pearl River Central Middle School Cheerleaders joined the kids at Camp Courageous in McNeill to demonstrate football techniques and cheers.

Coach Mona Roche, along with six of the eighth grade cheerleaders. gave the girls a demonstration of some stunts and taught the girls a cheer. Cheerleaders present were Captain Katy Miley, Shelby Champagne, Briana Jordan, Katy McCormick, Sally Penton, and Kayla Sheffield. Coach Roche and Coach Tonya Ramsay will be taking the girls to camp at Southeastern in Hammond on July 24 to July 27.

Coach Jeremy Weir, along with some of his fighting Devils, showed the boys at camp several things about football. Football players present were Carson Smith, Adam Herrin, Caston Dyle, Cody Dyle, Klint Hensarling, Blake Herrin, Ethan Martin, Donnie Leonard, Warren House, J.R. Smith, Cole Stewart, Daniel Hayden, Zach Marchand. Coach Jeremy Cothran and Coach Jud Necaise were both there to help with a mini scrimmage with the boys. Coach Weir also discussed his upcoming Jr. Blue Devil Football Team Camp to be held on July 5 through July 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. for elementary age boys. The cost of the camp will be $40. Registration will be held on June 26 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the school. For more information call Coach Weir at 601-798-2396.
