The Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office received a phone call from a woman Friday night saying her son was suicidal and had a gun. Chief Deputy Shane Tucker said the mother reported her son was contemplating “suicide by cops. Saying her son said something to the effect of taking out the first deputy that came if she called” the Sheriff’s Office.
Response to the call was dispatched in at 9:08 p.m., Tucker said. When deputies arrived at 492 County Farm Rd. in Lumberton, the mother was sitting on the front porch of the residence, he said. “One deputy approached the woman and two other deputies were watching the front door,” Tucker said.
