Early Thursday morning, Mike’s Auto Supply on S. Main Street in Poplarville was broken into, said Poplarville Chief of Police Charles Fazende.
Fazende said the owner arrived at the store Thursday morning and found a cinder block had been thrown through the front window. Fazende said the owner didn’t notice the broken window at first because it was partially blocked by a sign that hangs over the window.
Fazende said the owner reported about 10 Stihl grass trimmers had been stolen, with an estimated $3,000 value.
Fazende said the police don’t have any leads at the time and the case is still under investigation.
The Poplarville Police Department has made contact with pawn shops and notified other law enforcement agencies in the area to be on the watch for the stolen merchandise.
Fazende said if anyone has someone try to sell a Stihl grass trimmer to them for an unusually low price, they should take notice and inform the Poplarville Police Department. He said lawn care businesses should especially be on the lookout for someone trying to sell this merchandise to them.
If anyone has any information regarding the case, they can call 601-795-4447 or Crime Stoppers at 601-799- CLUE(2583).
