The Picayune Item
City-wide curbside recycling is set to begin the second week of November.
Residents throughout Picayune should be receiving bins in the coming days, if they have not already.
Mayor Ed Pinero said, “We are really excited about the curbside recycling. This is something our citizens asked us to provide, and we worked hard to make it happen. This will be great for Picayune.”
Service pick-up will be once a week and residents will know which day to leave their bins out by the flyer left in their recycling bin when they pick up their bin from the curbside.
Recycling bins should be curbside by 6 a.m. on the scheduled day of pick up. Those whose recycling overflows the supplied bin can place an additional container of recycling-eligible materials next to the one provided.
Acceptable items to recycle are paper, cardboard, plastics and aluminum and steel cans.
Materials not accepted are food waste, Styrofoam, wood, rest room waste, grocery bags and electronics.
Regular trash pick up will remain as scheduled.
