The Blue Devils led 6-1 going into the bottom of the sixth, and 6-2 entering the bottom of the seventh. The Hornets got a pair of runs off Spiers and loaded the bases up before the southpaw Putnam came in to slam the door recording back to back strike outs and getting a pop out to end the game.
